MEMBERSHIP CHAIR OPPORTUNITY
This is a key position in the Mid-Hudson ADK, and involves oversight of the membership committee, the role of which is outlined below. It is the overall responsibility of the Chair to coordinate all aspects of the work of the committee; to attend board meetings and to report on membership issues to the Chaper's executive; to locate and train volunteers; and to provide overall leadership and enthusiasm.

Membership Committee
The Chair of our chapter's Membership Committee can always use some help. Here are some of the volunteer opportunities our committee has:
1. All new members are mailed surveys, which ask them to indicate the ADK activities that they are interested in. When a survey is not returned, the new member is called, and asked to complete the survey over the telephone. We need someone to make these calls. The number of telephone calls averages about 5 per month and the cost of telephone calls is reimbursed. The time commitment averages out to about one hour per month.
2. When someone from our chapter does not renew their ADK membership, we call them to see if we can interest them in renewing. If they are not interested in renewing, we make a note of why they dropped their membership. This guides us in improving our programming, so we can better serve our membership. The number of telephone calls averages about 25 per month. The monthly time commitment is about 5 hours a month. The cost of telephone calls is reimbursed.
3. When new members join our chapter, we call them and welcome them to the chapter. We make about 15 calls a month, a time commitment of about one hour a month. We would also like to call new members after three months to see if they have any questions or comments about the chapter's activities. The monthly time commitment for this would probably be an additional hour or two. The cost of telephone calls is reimbursed.
4. We need a database maintenance person who is computer literate, has e-mail and web access, and is comfortable with Microsoft Access. This person would update our database using existing forms, generate simple queries, print reports, and generate labels. The time commitment is about three to four hours a month.
5. There are approximately 100 ADK members in our area that are not members of a specific ADK chapter; they are members at-large. We think that if they knew that they could join our chapter at no additional cost to them, they would jump at the chance. We would like to call them, tell them about our chapter, and ask them to join. I need a few volunteers to make these local calls. The time commitment is up to you. The cost of telephone calls is reimbursed.
Please call (845) 657-7057 or erd@wilsey.net, if you are interested in volunteering some of your time. I will be glad to talk with you about any of these volunteer opportunities. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
