MID-HUDSON ADK CHAPTER MEETINGS
-- HOST DUTIES
Following are suggestions for chapter meetings formulated by one of the work groups at the Board Planning Meeting on Jan. 25, 1998 and informally approved by the Board members present.
Each chapter meeting will be chaired by a HOST (who is a chapter member).
Duties of the host:
1. Greet arriving members, especially new members and guests. Provide name tags for all attendees.
2. Establish whether current hike schedule, and membership material is available and make sure guests receive this material
3. Introduce new members and guests at start of meeting
4. Present information on upcoming hikes, outings, etc., and have any leaders that are present describe their hike, and answer questions. (Perhaps the host could call the leaders of upcoming hikes in advance and ask if they will attend the meeting.)
5. Call on Chairs of committees, such as trails and conservation who may want to announce activities coming up in the near future.
6. Call on Conservation chair or committee member to provide information on upcoming issues and supply literature with addresses and phone numbers, so that members can speak at an upcoming hearing or write the appropriate official about their point of view.
7. Chapter Chair or appropriate person will introduce the main program of the evening.
8. At the end of the meeting, encourage people to stay and talk with upcoming hike and outing leaders, trail work leaders, project leaders, conservation representative or other contact people.
REFRESHMENTS will be supplied or arranged by the Host and should be available before and after the meeting.
