9:00-10:30 Class: Paddle Stroke Refinement. Kayak further, faster, become more maneuverable and confident on the water with The River Connection American Canoe Association Kayak Instructors, Marshall and Dorothy Seddon. Participant Criteria: Class is open to all kayakers with their own kayak, paddle and personal floatation device. Attendance: Class size is limited to 10 participants. 9:30-2:00 Test paddle boats from EMS. Eastern Mountain Sports will bring boats from their fleet for you to try out. Visit the main information desk to sign up for a test paddle.
Beginner kayak lesson. 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, 2:00 - Learn the basics in this quick introductory class with ADK trip leader, Don Urmston. You'll learn how to get in and out of the boat, how to paddle, to turn and stop. Each class will be limited in size. Visit the main information desk to sign up.
10:00-12:00 Guided paddle on Moodna Creek. An ADK trip leader will guide paddlers around Plum Point and up Moodna Creek. Paddlers must have their own kayaks and pfds. Register at the main information desk.
11:00-1:00 Test paddle Impex kayaks. Marshall from the River Connection will introduce paddlers to the complete line of Impex kayaks. If you are looking for a serious sea kayak, you've got to try these boats.
1:00-3:00 Guided paddle on the Hudson River by Storm King Adventure Tours. SKAT will take both beginner & experienced paddlers. The trip will include a short lesson at the outset. Participants who do not have a kayak may rent from SKAT by the hour. Participants and renters should sign up by contacting Kris at 845-534-7800 or kseiz@StormKingAdventureTours.com
1:30-3:00 Class: Kayak Rescue Skills. Become a safer and more confident kayaker for yourself and your paddling companions. Gain a greater repetoire of self and group kayak rescue skills with The River Connection American Canoe Association Kayak Instructors, Marshall and Dorothy Seddon. Participant Criteria: Class is open to kayakers with some basic kayaking experience with their own kayak (all kayaks must have adequate floatation with fore/aft bulkheads or floatation bags), paddle, personal floatation device and paddle float. Attendance: Class size is limited to 10 participants. Advance registration is required.
