PERSONAL PACKING LIST FOR BREAKFREE CANOE TRIPS

Clothing from Head to Toe:

Head:

  • Wool or pile hat
  • Sun Visor or Brim hat
  • Sunglasses

Neck:
  • Scarf (can be lightweight)

Upper Body
  • Lightweight long underwear shirt (not cotton)
  • Long sleeved wool or fleece shirt
  • Windbreaker type jacket
  • T shirt
  • 2nd T shirt, long sleeve shirt, sweater, as spares
  • Poncho or rain jacket w/hood (Breakfree has ponchos)

Lower Body:
  • 2 pair underwear
  • 2 pair long pants, loose fitting, NOT JEANS
  • shorts & bathing suit
  • rain pants (optional, but useful)

Feet: 

  • 2 pair socks, wool is best but nylon ok; avoid cotton sneakers

  • Teva-type sandals
  • Extra pair wool socks (If you wear sandals plus wool socks in the canoe your feet will stay warm even if wet and you can have dry sneakers for the evening.)

Hands: 

  • Wool or fleece gloves for cold weather paddling, or light nylon gloves just to protect your hands

Other: 

  • SMALL towel; flashlight with spare batteries; sun block; toothbrush & small toothpaste; any medicines you take

BREAKFREE WILL PROVIDE: Tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, all cooking equipment, bowls and cutlery, water bottles, ponchos, dry bags, life jackets

Note: As we know, weather can change very quickly. This list is meant to keep you comfortable on spring and fall trips where we could encounter rain and cold. If the weather prediction is for a hot, sunny weekend you can skip the wool hat.
